My Trip #7 | The Story of Climbing Sinabung Volcano before the Eruption

hi stemians, hope this day be a good start for all of us...
We travel from Medan to Berastagi by using public transportation (Sinabung Jaya) with travel time of approximately 2 hours, then continue the journey from Berastagi city to Lau Kawar Lake by using the village transportation.
This journey is done before the eruption of Mount Sinabung, where at that time the type of Mount Sinabung still includes volcano Type-B, where volcano Type-B is a volcano that does not have eruption records after the year 1600. After 1200 years in a relatively quiet, in August 2010 Sinabung began to erupt and officially became an Type-A volcano, which had a history of eruptions after 1600.
Back to the story of the ascent before the eruption of Sinabung volcano, we arrived at the lake lau kawar when the sun began to set. We settle our resting place by building camp at the foot of Mount Sinabung which is adjacent to lau kawar lake.

At night, precisely at 1 a.m. we make the climb to the top of Sinabung volcano, the trip to the top of Sinabung volcano is done with travel time approximately 3 hours on foot. Sinabung volcano climbing path has several shelters, there are no permanent buildings that we can use to take shelter from the rain during the rainy season. (It is recommended that you bring equipment such as Plonco / Raincoat / Tent) Here the climbers can take a rest while see the sights off to the bottom.

The last shelter we can use to rest is a spring called Pandan Post. We can take the water clear enough. Ordinary climber to rest long enough in Post Pandan to restore stamina by way of logistics that brought because after this post we will start entering the rock tracks that have a steepness rate of about 45 degrees. be careful in this cadas because here is not much place to rest.

Arriving at the Peak we can look at the expanse of forest below and if the sunny weather on the East we will be able to see the Landscape of Toba lake. While the West we will see the Lau Kawar lake and the forest line is still bushy overgrown trees. From the highest peak of this Sinabung mountain we can descend to the east to see the crater and there is also a rock hill shaped like Columnar.

Cerita pendakian gunung sinabung sebelum terjadi letusan
hai stemians, moga hari ini menjadi awal yang baik buat kita semua
Kami melakukan perjalanan dari Kota Medan ke Berastagi dengan menggunakan angkutan umum (Sinabung Jaya) dengan waktu tempuh lebih kurang 2 jam, selanjutnya melanjutkan perjalanan dari kota Berastagi Ke Danau Lau Kawar dengan menggunakan angkutan desa.
Perjalanan ini dilakukan sebelum terjadi letusan gunung sinabung, dimana saat itu tipe gunung sinabung masih termasuk gunung api tipe B, dimana gunungapi tipe B ini merupakan gunungapi yang tidak memiliki catatan erupsi setelah tahun 1600. Setelah 1200 tahun dalam keadaan relatif tenang, pada agustus 2010 Sinabung mulai meletus dan resmi menjadi gunungapi tipe-A, yang memiliki sejarah erupsi setelah tahun 1600.
Kembali ke kisah pendakian sebelum terjadinya erupsi gunungapi sinabung, kami sampai di danau lau kawar disaat matahari mulai terbenam. Kami membereskan tempat peristirahatan kami dengan membangun kemah di kaki gunung sinabung yang berada disebelah danau lau kawar.

Disaat malam hari, tepatnya jam 1 pagi kami melakukan pendakian ke puncak gunung sinabung, perjalanan ke puncak gunung sinabung dilakukan dengan waktu tempuh lebih kurang 3 jam perjalanan kaki. Jalur pendakian gunung sinabung memiliki beberapa tempat pos peristirahatan (shelter), memang tidak ada bangunan permanent yg dapat kita gunakan untuk berteduh dari hujan disaat musim penghujan.(disarankan anda membawa perlengkapan seperti Plonco / Raincoat / Tenda) Di sini pendaki dapat beristirahat melepas lelah sambil melihat pemandangan lepas ke bawah.

Shelter terakhir yg dapat kita gunakan untuk berisitirahat adalah sebuah mata air yg biasa disebut Pos Pandan. Kita dapat mengambil air yg cukup jernih. Biasa para pendaki beristirahat cukup lama di Pos Pandan untuk memulihkan stamina dg cara makan logistic yg dibawa karena setelah pos ini kita akan mulai memasuki trek bebatuan yg memiliki tingkat kecuraman sekitar 45 derajat. berhati-hatilah di cadas ini karena disini tidak banyak tempat untuk beristirahat.

Sesampainya di Puncak kita dapat memandang hamparan hutan di bawah dan apabila cuaca cerah disebelah Timur kita akan dapat melihat Bentangan Danau Toba. Sedangkan sebelah Barat kita akan menyaksikan danau Lau Kawar beserta barisan hutan yg masih lebat ditumbuhi pepohonan.
Dari puncak tertinggi gunung Sinabung ini kita dapat turun ke sebelah timur untuk melihat kawah yg sudah mati dan juga terdapat bukit bebatuan yg berbentuk seperti Columnar.
