Ut på tur? Aldri sur! – Norwegian Nature | Adventure Every Day

in #nature7 years ago

This is a phrase you might hear Norwegians say when they are out in the woods, experiencing nature. And Norwegians sure do love being outdoors!

This is how you properly cook bacon

The phrase ut på tur, aldri sur roughly translates directly as out on a trip, never angry/sour, but basically is just a fun way to say that it's always great to be out in nature and can be a way for Norwegians to strike up conversation with people they encounter. Norwegians tend to keep mostly to themselves in the city, but they suddenly become friendly and talkative when you meet out in the woods. That was certainly the case on this trip!

It was a random religious holiday in the middle of the week, so of course a great day to go out to the woods. And when I meet up with my friend Oliver, there of course will be fire involved. I missed the overnight camping part of this trip, but made it in time for the bacon to be ready. Delicious!

The destination here was a lake called Øyungen, about an hour bike ride from downtown Oslo. It's supposed to be a good spot for fishing, but nothing was biting this time. A bad day fishing still beats a good day at work, right?

You never know who you might run into in the woods, and that includes four-legged friends as well:

It also might include some really talkative and friendly Norwegians. A really nice couple stopped by our campsite and started chatting with us over a round of bacon. This was all well and good, until we realized that we were running super late for getting our friend downtown to catch his ferry to Denmark. Oops!

We packed up quick and hit the trails, making it back just in time for him to catch the boat - crisis averted.

Here were some more photos from the day:

Yum, that bacon looks almost as good as the view.

Thanks @runaway-psyche! Yes, it was really tasty!

So wild and peaceful! I could use a few days in the woods. Only to think a way to post :)

Indeed it is! Yes, the woods are a good place for inspiration :)

Nice post. Norway's nature never disappoints! 🙂

Thank you! Indeed it doesn't. Stay tuned tomorrow for some drone footage :)

Exciting! We have wanted to buy a drone, cause you can make quite a lot impressive footage. From where will tomorrows shoot be?

It will be from an island right outside of Oslo, taken shortly after a small hailstorm. It was my first time flying it but I think I managed to get some decent shots.

Cool, we will take a look! :)

Just posted my short drone vid if you want to take a look :)

Nice shoot, we just had a look! Is it easy to fly the drone?

Pretty simple, yeah. I am using the mobile app for now. I will get the remote a little later when it comes in stock at the store. Need to practice more, but so far it's been relatively easy.

wow wonderfull

is that a wild horse? @adventureevryday

Haha no unfortunately, that would've been cool! But it's pretty common to see people on horseback in the woods here.

We do not have it here, I think it's a wild horse sorry @adventureevryday my bad
