Plants 'hear' themselves being eaten

This is just not acceptable. We need some form of plant activism here to stop these poor plants' feelings being hurt. It makes me sick to the bone to think plants out there are suffering every day.

I'm joking of course, but this is quite cool nonetheless. The fact that the plant has a built in mechanism to release ethylene gas to ward off 'predators' (such vicious predators, caterpillars, aren't they.). Are plant's the smart ones in this world?
