RE: The Travelling Rosemary Bush - Original True Story
@Porters Thank you! :)
How cold do your winters get?
The Rosemary Bush I received has survived several years of cold Luxembourg winters outside in the ground with temps dropping regularly well below freezing point.
There are several cultivars of rosemary and some are super hardy.
There is a variety called Rosemary "Arp" which is a smaller one I have in the garden planted this year, which is also a frost hardy cultivar.
Winters here from october until february is basically no sun at all, grey through and through, december-january-february usually averages at just about freezing 0°C up to -20° C on those real nasty winter days.
Here is a link to the frosthardy rosemary cultivar, might be able to find one for your garden ;)
It drops to - 30 even -40 degrees C. so the only way I can keep a rosemary bush is in a pot and bring it indoors. This year i invested in grow lights so I can keep my herbs (and vegetables) growing through the winter.
Thanks for the info though!
