So finally I collected all the items I need to setup my soxhlet extractor. Running my first setup extracting Rose Hips & Passion Flowers! Loving it this helps to save up on alcohol and also to create way more concentrated extractions.

Will be creating some powerful Spagyric Tinctures with this Baby. Not only can you create a super concentrated extraction but you can extract an herb in a matter of hours instead of macerating it for weeks on end.

For my more refined projects I am waiting on a steaming-flask which will allow me to steam distill the essential oils and hydrosols of the plants & flowers I work with.

I have done distillations using a normal water distillation in which you boil the herbs in the same vessel as the water, but it tends to burn the oils way too easy. I got a special copper distillation unit just for that, but will be working with steam distillations more in the future.

Might use the copper still for other fermentation projects where I create my own mercury though.

I leave you with some final photos of the extractor and a video showing you how it empties itself out into the main vessel once it fills up, the alcohol then is evaporated off, and goes through the herbs extracting them again, we repeat until the alcohol does not take on any color anymore.

And a close up photo of the passionflower and rose hips! If you wish to learn more visit my website!!

What a beautiful process! I have always wanted a still and this has reignited that desire :) Really nice set up you've got. Thanks so much for sharing.

We are also running our fortnightly competition for steem rewards, where you can explore a plant medicine! Check it out here - this fortnight's plants are valerian, salvia divinorum and thyme!

@walkerland Thank you, it is a pleasure to share, especially since one of my main intentions behind making this public is to reignite some lost fires in others or some new ones they never knew they had burning within them!

Get them inspired to start their own adventure discovering the plants and flowers around them, and playing around with different methods of extracting them.

Definitely hook your self up with a still, they are not too expensive, and they run for a lifetime if taken care of :D
