Much love!

Very interesting interview. I agree that it's important to be sensitive to the abundance of plants when harvesting. Also, why not use local plants for smudge sticks, for example. There was a post on here recently about someone making smudge sticks from rosemary and other local herbs to them.

great to find out more about you and your journey :)

Ah yes that was @kristaluton ... glad you enjoyed the interview!

This was so interesting! Gonna go check her out now:)

thanks!!! glad you liked it.

@ofsedgeandsalt: Kelly, I always love hearing from you- your voice is so unique and much-needed in these times. Thanks for doing this interview @riverflows, I immensely enjoyed it :)

Traditional Chinese Medicine includes a lot of plants that are also found in Appalachia, or species that are closely related.

This is the same as in the unglaciated Ozarks. one of our neighbors in fact was instrumental in getting many of the TCM plants here (working with professors in Berkeley) because of our similar climate. She has dozens of chinese plants that have made their home here (some more adaptive than others). Her aim was also to "ground" the TCM plants that in such high demand now.

Harvesting a plant like White Sage for personal use is one thing- but harvesting it to sell to others creates a capitalistic dynamic in relationship to a sacred plant found in the commons.

Very well said. I'm glad you're bringing this up to a wider audience on Steem! Very lovely to read this article. Resteemed. Thanks for being you Kelly and so glad you joined us on Steem :) <3

thanks for inviting me here! i'm still getting used to it all and how to plug it with what i do. i still have a hard time finding the time to engage regularly being off grid a lot lately. but! i have plans for a lot of posts this year. especially about plants. soon!

It was heaps of fun @mountainjewel and you should really think about doing an interview for NM. Thanks for resteeming - it's a worthy one!

Wonderful that you can devote so much time to studying plants. I'd love to be able to travel and meet and learn from so many interesting people. I don't envy you living out of a camper. It makes me appreciate having a home base built here in the boreal forest where I'm surrounded by an abundance of plants to study. I'm looking forward to reading your posts and listening to your podcast. You're leading a very interesting life and I'm glad you are sharing it.

there's something to be said about staying put and deepening time with one place in layers over time, too.
