RE: NM Interview Session with @ofsedgeandsalt: Experiental Botany & Plant Medicines on the Road
@ofsedgeandsalt: Kelly, I always love hearing from you- your voice is so unique and much-needed in these times. Thanks for doing this interview @riverflows, I immensely enjoyed it :)
Traditional Chinese Medicine includes a lot of plants that are also found in Appalachia, or species that are closely related.
This is the same as in the unglaciated Ozarks. one of our neighbors in fact was instrumental in getting many of the TCM plants here (working with professors in Berkeley) because of our similar climate. She has dozens of chinese plants that have made their home here (some more adaptive than others). Her aim was also to "ground" the TCM plants that in such high demand now.
Harvesting a plant like White Sage for personal use is one thing- but harvesting it to sell to others creates a capitalistic dynamic in relationship to a sacred plant found in the commons.
Very well said. I'm glad you're bringing this up to a wider audience on Steem! Very lovely to read this article. Resteemed. Thanks for being you Kelly and so glad you joined us on Steem :) <3
