Ulog #044 : Paragis, how beneficial or curative are they in the real world?

in #naturalmedicine6 years ago

A friend of mine advised me to check PARAGIS out to help my mom with her pneumonia last August. His intro was to check our backyard as it is that common in the Philippines. Mentioning it to my family, one of my brothers has already experienced brewing and drinking it. Not as a specific treatment but rather due to its' "healthy benefits". A common knowledge though in our place is its' diuretic effect, nothing else.

My mom, since her discharge from the hospital, has been receiving a concoction of paragis and lagundi tea, we think that she can't get anything more NATURAL and conservative medication than those. Throw in some lemongrass and she's all set. We can only hope and she's more than a month now at home, free of pneumonia.

Check those weeds out!

The benefits of Paragis

An article Paragis, the grass that cures listed a lot of conditions where it is found to be beneficial. Notable in the list are its' regulatory effect on the blood pressure, airway inflammatory protection and as a natural diuretic. Perhaps we were justified then in using Paragis on my mom where 3 injectables and the strongest antibiotics were not at all effective. In addition to another 2 oral antibiotics she had to take on discharge.

The same site listed these potential benefits:

  • Airway inflammatory processes
  • Apoptotic induction activity
  • Antiplasmodial/antidiabetic
  • Nutritional potential/fodder
  • Hepatoprotective/antioxidant
  • Pancreatic Lipase Inhibitory Activity/Obesity treatment potential
  • Anticonvulsant

Please check the site for the explanations on each one. These are just deemed beneficial where further research needs to be done to have more data on Paragis efficacy.

Paragis as an antioxidant

In the same note, what made me wonder though are the contents of its' leaves from the same article, where apparently, PARAGIS is believed to contain silicon monoxide, Calcium oxide and chlorine. I am familiar with the last one, CHLORINE, as an #antioxidant. Perhaps @cahlen might be interested on this one, in connection with his recent post regarding chlorine dioxide.

The natural one OR...

the Chlorine dioxide molecule

Chlorine is known as a water purifier where any pool around the world is full of it or in our aquariums. Its' hazard though is its' by-product where it's considered as carcinogenic, the reason that it's banned in some places.

Its' cousin Chlorine dioxide is a different matter.

...this one?

The web is full of articles about a Miracle Mineral solution or MMS. Although it's not approved by the FDA, a lot of its' users' and their testimonies of its' healing properties abound.

Chlorine Dioxide is an oxidizing agent that readily accepts electrons - known as "electron donors". This is an important distinction to understand, as virtually ALL pathogenic stressors & diseased tissue are effectively destroyed - whilst healthy tissue & cellular structures within the body are entirely spared.

How true is this please @alchemage?

MMS or Paragis?

To the world, MMS is more accessible. Or maybe not. Our MMS was ordered in Australia, whereas before, we were ordering it from the US. This being labeled as a water purifier. With Paragis, perhaps somewhere, it is also accessible. But how brave is anyone to wanna try it? With all these potential benefits and a potential nutritional value, ANYONE?

This shot was taken in our backyard, and those Paragis are not grown nor need looking after. A wild weed that grows in any space they could find so a nuisance in childhood when we were asked to pull them out when cleaning the garden of weeds. Who would have thought back then that they have any value rather than food for our neighbours' goats and perhaps their cows? Found anywhere in people's backyards, along roadsides, paths, by the fields, they are locally found and everywhere!

If further research will be done for their health benefits and curative efficacy, will there ever a need for pharma? Interestingly, will the medical practitioners prescribe them?

It's a WEED.

This post is a response to @naturalmedicine's contest of sharing the world's LOCAL medicines, modalities and remedies that are beneficial to humanity. If local means to just get out from the kitchen door to access medicine, then there's not much difference in going out and picking out some herbs, fruits or vegetables in the back garden when in need of a medicine.

awesome post!!!

Thanks..it's very bitter..also, we brew all parts.
If those benefits are true...that weed can gibe a punch!

here's the website if you wanna check it out further: http://paragis.org/study-findings-on-the-efficacy-and-health-benefits-of-paragis/

Amazing. I'm always interested in medicine for pneumonia . When Mum had it we used lobelia, and I use lobelia when I get bad bronchitis (touch wood, haven't for ages). Really interesting re: chorine dioxide and interested to see what @cahlen and @alchemage might think of this too. I love the way you throw in some chem knowledge - I bow down to you, natural medicine goddess!

I made a video response if you’re interested in my input:)

For sure!!! I have to do the radio show first but will this arvo.. thanks for alerting me!

Thanks River! Let's pick those knowledge from the masters, they are there for a reason.

For pneumonia and bronchitis, paragis seems a good one for inflammations. Do you have chaste tree? Lagundi is a kind of chaste tree, good for cough as it's a bronchodilator.

Seen alchemage reply yet?

Haven't had time what with radio and the garden. Will listen on way to work. Xx We don't have chaste tree! Loved hearing your voice this morning!!

He gave me an idea on what to check next.
T'was short but ok..kinda difficult being on radio while watching my mom at the same time.
Saw some artichokes earlier on, was so envious
😍😇

Oh yes.. they are BEAUTIFUL!!!! Xxx

They are! Can they be cooked fresh? i always buy the pickled ones in London.

@immarojas siempre es importante conocer las propiedades y los beneficios que las plantas nos proporcionan sobre todo para nuestro cuerpo

Yeah true..but we don't always try to find out☺
I don't always lols

This is so interesting! It really is special when we discover the healing benefits of all the weeds that grow around us.

Very much though our occasional helper almost pulled out every Paragis in the backyard😁😂🤣
Did you see about @aksulevm89's white pyre?

Yes I did! Also a wonderful informative post. My mum did that last year, started pulling up all of my "weeds" and I was screaming to her stop.

Ahahaha joy to us who don't know these stuff. Those just grow wild where you are, right? Leave them alone and they'll just do their business.

Great post! Love it when medicines grow as “weeds”!

As for your question, it’s a bit complicated, and I would say only partially true to what the sources states. I’ll make a video in a few minutes to explain that which I do know. It’s a great topic!

P.S.
Chlorine is actually a free radical. I’ll explain more in my video.

Feel free to head over to my blog and check out the video I made as a response. :)
