You won't find any cleaning products in our home that have chemicals in them. We make them all and each has their own purpose. One of our priorities is to prevent our children from breathing in harsh chemicals from commercial products.

Not only is making your own cleaning products a healthier choice for your environment, it is also cost efficient. You will end up saving a lot of money by keeping a healthy stock of your staple ingredients on hand.

Using amber glass spray bottles helps to protect the essential oils that are sensitive to degradation from light. You can use this spray as an all purpose spray for your home (countertops, tables, windows, mirrors, bathroom etc.). We use 16 oz. bottles but you can adjust the measurements according to the size bottle you have.

House Cleaner Spray:

• 15 oz. distilled water
• 2-3 tsp Castile soap or liquid soap of your choice
• 2 tsp baking soda
• 2 tsp distilled white vinegar
• 10-20 drops peppermint essential oil
• 10-20 drops lemon or lemongrass essential oil
• 10-20 drops tea tree essential oil
• 10-20 drops lavender essential oil
• 1 cap full (about 1 1/2 tsp) Young Living Thieves household cleaner or any natural cleaner (optional boost)

- Add all of the ingredients to the spray bottle. I like to add the distilled water in last for easier mixing. Give the bottle a little shake and you are ready to clean your home with chemical free goodness.

Your countertops will say...

We also use our own plant sprays. The essential oils helps keep the plants strong and healthy and resistant to disease. The oils also help repel insects and keep pests away. This spray can be used on indoor and outside plants as well as in your garden. We currently use this for our indoor succulent plants.

Plant Care Spray:

• 15 oz. distilled water
• 1-2 tsp distilled white vinegar
• 1 tsp Castile soap or liquid soap of your choice
• 10-15 drops peppermint essential oil
• 5-10 drops clove essential oil (or Thieves essential oil from Young Living)
• 10-15 drops lavender essential oil
• 10-15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
• 10-15 drops lemongrass essential oil

- Mix all ingredients together in your bottle adding the distilled water last. Spray on plants as needed.

Your house plants will say...

If you do not have all of these essential oils on hand just use the ones you do have. You can play around with variations and measurements to your liking.

I hope you enjoy these chemical free recipes :)

I have all of these ingredients except for the Thieves, but I have a niece that sells the young living oils. I might have to try this!

That’s great!! I hope you do try them!! 😃

Great recipes @crosheille, I am definitely making them. Thank you 🙏

Thank you!! I’m glad to hear that! 😊

Going to try this, I used to make scrub myself its fun

Yay awesome! We make a scrub to clean out our bathtub and sinks and it works wonderfully!!

This is great! We are a chemical free home already but I don't like some of the cleaners we use so I am going to give these a try, I bet they smell amazing too! 😁 thanks for sharing?

Thank you! It’s great to hear you are a chemical free home too.

Yes it smells so wonderful and keeps the house smelling fresh. You can play around with the variations to get it to your liking! I hope you enjoy making them!!

Thats so cool the house cleaner one I will have to get the ingredients and make my own, more natural than what you can buy I am sure

Yes no chemicals at all. Way safer than store bought ones! 👌🏽

Thanks for checking it out!

and I am sure it works as well if not better :)

Definitely! 👍🏽

very cool! i use baking soda and vinegar for everything !! love the amber jar idea and can i see a photo of your plants? i wouldve thought the oils and plants would hate e/o but i loveee the idea!!

Oh yes having amber bottles are awesome and our cleaners spray out nicely with them!

Most plants contain eo’s that help nourish and protect them. So adding these to your sprayer will only enhance that! It’s really amazing how they work!

@crosheille looks great and if you get a chance to take some plant photos please let me know! tag me or something LOL i need to see the results :)

Haaaa!! I hear ya! The small plant in the photo above is my daughter’s oregano plant she just started. She’s using the spray almost everyday on it so when it starts to bloom I’ll show you a pic! We just gave our Aloe Vera plant to my parents and are going to start over from scratch with a new one. Ill show pics of that one too once we get it going! 😉 I’m hoping to get more indoor ones soon! I want more herbs growing in our home.

Do you currently have house plants?

You can also check online because there are others that use essential oils on their plants too!

@crosheille whaaa?? i dont see anything of a plant looking being anywhere lol might be me ... maybe i'm in another dimension LOL
whilst typing you :p
i do have house plants yes and very moody they dont like this colorado dry heat :(

This is a great idea. Excellent examples of making natural household products - so important for reducing your exposure to certain toxins.

Thanks so much for giving this a read! It’s so much safer and we feel better knowing we’re not breathing in harsh products.

Yes reducing toxic exposure is so important!

great post! love this! i wish that everyone could see this post. people too often and too quickly go straight to the chemical products to clean their homes, when these spray recipes you've shared are more than adequate- they also smell great and don't bring unnecessary toxicity into your home/body. Thanks!

Thank you!! I sure would like everyone to know about these safer alternatives :). It’s very convenient just picking up a store bought cleaner but it’s not worth risking our health. It only takes just a few minutes to make. Oh yes they smell really great and they help keep a happy mood :)

It’s my pleasure! Thanks so much for reading and for your support and feedback :D

Wow!!
Making everything from scratch...
