Our life here in Thailand is punctuated by ritual and ceremony in the most amazing way. Just last night, the whole circumference of the old moated city was ringed by little candles brought by ordinary people, who wanted to to contribute to the bringing of the light (today the Loy Kratong ceremonies start to honour the end of the rains). It's lovely. We even have a public holiday to honour the first rice planting day of each season. It's lovely and flows out of a rich tradition of personal ceremonies an rituals.
