Following The Footprints of a Geisha
During many very long and hard times spanning from (794- 1869) We were images of beauty. Sacred for a while only to this land hidden by the world, forbidden to some. We were the company of those that sought a companion in no other way. We were the charm, beauty and mystery of Kyoto, Japan, known as Maiko, Courtesans and Geisha.
So many images we left behind tell our story and leave whispers of a culture that has survived and after a time of war has been resurrected. Do not judge us, but please do take time to come to know our story. I am Sayorie, a Geisha of old.
Follow us as Geisha down through the dark years, feel from the following images just some of the things we felt as we lived this life, our story, our world in the shadows of old.
