The Chest of Mysteries #7: Point Nemo
If you ever wanted to isolate yourself from everything and everyone, certainly Point Nemo would be a good choice to achieve this. Have you ever heard of him? It's only the most inaccessible place on Earth. If you could get there, you would be in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and certainly, you wouldn't see anyone around.

If you have never heard of it, know that it is only the most isolated and inaccessible point on the planet. If you ever got there, you would certainly not see anyone.
Located about 3 thousand kilometers away from New Zealandit still manages to be further away from islands such as Ducie (Pitcairn) and Mahe (Antarctica).
It's also called Pacific Inaccessibility Pole and was only discovered in 1992, by the technology that the Croatian Hrvoje Lukatela had at its disposal. By having been able to incorporate the ellipsoidal shape of the Earth into a computer program, he was able to obtain the most distant point on the planet with such precision. And as you would expect, it's located in the Pacific Ocean.
Curiosities
Are you still wondering why the name? I'll explain then. This tribute was made to Captain Nemo, the character of the novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, by Jules Verne. Nemo means nobody, in Latin, so it is used as the name for the occasion.
Another curiosity that will surprise you is that the closest locality to this region is...the International Space Station, which is located between 2,700 kilometers away! Incredible, isn't it?

And to be in the Chest of Mysteries, clearly, there must have some good mysteries!
This place besides being the most inaccessible is full of legends too! One is the famous Bloop sound, detected on the seabed several years ago, and so far, without any explanation of its existence.
The noise is disturbing, and it looks like some unknown mythical creatures. The sound was captured by deep microphones scattered throughout the Pacific Ocean around 1997.
The National and Atmospheric Administration has confirmed that the quake was nothing more than a giant iceberg, yet the imagination goes beyond that. Urban legends already say that the sound is emitted by Cthulhu himself, a monster with large tentacles, and who lives in the fictional city of R'lyeh, in the universe of the writer H.P Lovecraft.
The big question here is that the writer is already seen as a visionary since he was right in the coordinates of Point Nemo in his story. So, the city is really fictitious? I'll give it to your discretion!
