MyPictureDay - Carving Artworks

in #mypictureday7 years ago

I was with @keuudeip on a pilgrimage to the historic cemetery complex in Kampung Pande, Banda Aceh, on November 9, 2017. That location is in the density of people's homes. Tombs there looks messy, one of them is the tomb of Syahbandar Mu'tabar Khan, a figure of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam era.

Although it is not neatly arranged, but the beauty of the works of artists in his day did not deceive, a taste of life ornaments is exposed there through the tendrils of living plants and polygon patterns.

There I shot some pictures of stone carving art works of Acehnese era of the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam. From there I also added the place on Google Map as Heritage Preservation and uploaded the photos. Please view in Google Map HERE. Previously I had first upload the photos on Facebook Group @mapesa, please see HERE. Following are some photos:

The tomb of Syahbandar Mu'tabar Khan

Syahbandar Mu'tabar Khan can be known from the sculpture on the tomb in Arabic script which was successfully read by @keuudeip (an expert reads inscriptions on ancient inscriptions) in 2014, "The reading was not as complex as in other ancient inscriptions", he said.

After conducting intensive study, another document was found that was a handwritten letter (reproduction) at the Aceh museum, originally stored in the library of Copenhagen, Rigs Arkivet, As, Komp, 2188a, W., on trade relations between the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam and the Danish Kingdom of the year 1743, in the letter listed the name Syahbandar Mu'tabar Khan.

S̲h̲āhbandar (Persian: شه‌بندر‎‎, lit. “harbourmaster”), was an official of the ports in Safavid Persia and one also known on other shores of the Indian Ocean. The Shahbandar (Port Master) was in charge of the traders and the collection of taxes. The office of shahbandar first appeared in Persia, and from there spread throughout the Indian Ocean basin. Later on, having become obsolete for the port towns of Persia, the term shahbandm was now used for the official who represented the interests of the Turkish merchants operating within Persia.
