Two Bags of Rice My Picture Day (Morning)

The day the missionary is happy is when he has something in his hand to give to ease the pain and suffering in the lives of others.

Last night I was able to purchase two half sacks of rice. A half sack (25 kilos) will feed a family for about a month. Cost $20 USD. I wanted to deliver the rice to two families that I already had in mind. My current situation is that my only transportation is a motorcycle. This is actually the preferred vehicle for where I had to go. One place way up in the mountains and the other down ar sea level in a fishing village. The place in the mountains even the locals don’t go out much after dark because of some of the groups that have their base up there. So very early I set out with one bag of rice and then went to pick up the other and headed for the fishing village.

I headed out very early. Heading up the mountain I paused and too a photo down towards the bay.

One of my favorite things to photograph is the sunrise. I am a morning person anyway. So I got a few photos Looking down from the mountain. Lots of clouds in the sky. You can also see many levels of clouds as my destination is near the top. I saw this family recently for the first time. Immediately I knew if I had something in my hand, I would pass it in to them. Especially when there are young kids involved.

The Philippines is such a beautiful place and so many beautiful people with big beautiful smiles. Lots of times when I come up this mountain the kids line the road and yell “DADDY WILLIAM”. It makes my heart swell.

One photo turning back to give an idea of the grade. This is not the steepest place, but a pretty good grade and lots of fun on a bike.

After I delivered the rice to the first very happy family, then I headed back down the mountain. Sometimes I take a photo at the delivery spot, but many times I think it inappropriate and kind of humiliating to the people. This is my first time to actually approach and speak with this family, The tears, smiles and salamat. Is all sufficient for me!

Distracted by a Red Eagle

As I was headed back down the mountain. I turned the corner and there was a Red Eagle. They resemble the American Bald Eagle as they have white feathers in the head and neck area. On this trip I saw 4 riding the wind currents, but this one was 40 feet away. I was elated and surprised. My current means of photography is my IPad, so I am trying to get it out of my bag and get a shot. It has been my desire since I started to live here 4 years ago, now my chance and ....too late.

This is not the same Eagle, but when I go at my iPad password and camera going too late. I am adding the video to show what I see when I travel up here and to give the ambiance of how windy it is and you can see I was just below the highest clouds.

One more photo on the way back down.

On my way to pick up the next bag of rice and head to the fishing village. I recently discovered this lake and made a detour to see it. While on this diversion. I saw these boys with a caribou and a make shift cart or sled.

They were happy to pose for a. Photo and I left them each with a shiny 5 peso coin. The folks living here know what I mean the new 5 peso coin.

Then a shot of my newly discovered lake.

I picked up the next back of rice and delivered it to another super happy and grateful family. I did take some photos of the houses in the area.

“I once worried because I had no shoes, until I met a man that had no feet”.

Mat 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Mat 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Thank you for your time!
God bless!
