Not my favorite part of the city but my son lived here for awhile and its not that bad. There are some great eating finds if you don't mind the poverty and homelessness which is pretty shocking when you first encounter it.

Now about breakfast. Awesome bakery. We arrived at 7:58am Sunday morning and there was a line waiting for opening. A good sign for any bakery but especially here - given where you have to wait.

We got a six box - two each - and took them back to my sons apartment and ate them on the roof.

Luckily there was a fire pit to warm things up because it was a foggy morning. Views are great. I'll have to get some pictures sometime this summer. The pastries were excellent. Our tastes were immediately apparent. My oldest son got two savory selections, one with spinach and another with pastrami. I got two sweet pastries - a berry topped cheesecake item and a cream cheese danish. My youngest son went straight for the chocolate - a chocolate croissant and a chocolate creme filled donut.
