My Curie Story: My Thoughts on Game Over, Man

CURIE

A week ago, I wrote a blog post about My Thoughts on Game Over, Man, a movie released on Netflix. I'm new to Steem and have set myself a challenge of writing a blog post a day for the foreseeable future. Having heard of Curie's curation of quality content, I was pleasantly surprised when my review was curated by @curie and upvoted by over 300 people to boot. Here are my thoughts.

My Thoughts on Game Over, Man

After posting my review of this movie, I had reread it a few times over the past week to see how I can improve it and any future post I make. I personally think it's long and a bit of a ramble at times. As a review it has equal parts of synopsis and my personal thoughts. I want my reviews to be more about my thoughts on a topic and having less synopsis in it because while I want to introduce more people to a topic, movie or video game, I'd prefer to discuss criticisms and ideas of the topic with people who have already watched or played a piece in the future. I need to find a balance between the two.

I wrote a post about Using Markdown to Blog on Steem (HERE) earlier this week, and in that piece, I talked about what I've learnt while using Steem and what I still need to learn. One possible solution to the problem I had above was perhaps separating a blog post in half with links to different parts of a blog post for people to be able to skip directly to my thoughts. I still haven't found a way to make this work. If anybody knows how to do this on Steem, please let me know. I would prefer, for the time being at least, to not write both a spoiler and non-spoiler version of a review of a film or movie.

If you haven't read my review of Game Over, Man. Be sure to read it HERE. You won't be able to vote on it anymore, but I'd still be interested in your thoughts of both the film and my review's writing style and what I can improve on.

The Experience

On the day of my review, I wrote the blog post in the early morning. I had woken up super early for some reason. Maybe it’s the sun starting to rise and shine directly into by bedroom now (YAY, SPRING IS HERE) or maybe it was something else, but as a result I spent the morning writing my review. When I was done with writing and proofreading, I posted my review and went about the rest of my day. I needed to go to university for some tutorials and practice as exams are coming up soon. Upon coming home from a very long day, I logged onto my computer and was super excited to see that not only had I been upvoted by Curie, but by over 300 other people. For the smallest of moments, I thought I should give up any plans for my future and become a full-time blogger. I’m not there yet. I don't know if I would like to do this full time either. It's nice to have Steem to vocalize my thoughts about movies and video games that I don't already do with other people and I do appreciate having sometime in my day to do this.

CURIE2

Being upvoted by Curie as certainly added to my motivation to continue to write on Steemit. Maybe someday I'll be able to make the same return as I did on my curated review more often and hopefully have more interaction within my posts. I'll hopefully get there eventually if I keep at it. It’s always good to be optimistic.

What I think about Curie

Curie is a great project and a good place to find interesting things to read. When I'm looking for something new to read on Steem, I'll look at what Curie has recently upvoted or look at a recent Author Showcase. I haven't been disappointed yet. I hope that they continue to curate good content on Steem.

As I'm new to Steem and still learning about how different elements work, I've made Curie my voting proxy for witnesses. I don't yet fully understand how the system works entirely and I don't yet know what good criteria for who to vote on. Once I've developed a better understanding I'll do my own voting, but until then I'll leave it to people who have been here longer and have a better understanding than I do.
