Zoo Day: Show Us Your California

Hi Friends,

This post is an entry into the weekly contest of @socalsteemit where we show our California.

Yesterday, I took a vacation day and the family and I went to the Los Angeles Zoo!

We used have season passes when Jacob was little, but haven’t been back for a couple of years and this was Kendra’s first visit to the zoo.

It was a perfect day with the weather in the mid-60 degree Fahrenheit range, and many of the animals were out catching the sunlight so they were easy to watch. A couple of highlights were the lions, who were quite active, and let out a few “roars” – the kids loved it! The Chimpanzees were also quite fun, as the zoo was quite empty, and they came up and were playing hide with us by running along the glass and having us chase them!

My wife tried to get a picture of me and the kids with the flamingos, but Kendra was quite distracted, and Jacob was being a typical boy and not wanting to take a pic (not unlike his dad):

I did manage to get a good picture of my wife with the kids in front on a big Christmas tree they had at the zoo:
