Santa Anita Park - Show Us Your California
Hi Friends,
This post is an entry into the weekly Show Us Your California contest hosted by @socalsteemit where we show an aspect of our California
There are many iconic locations in Southern California, and one cool one is Santa Anita Park. This is a horse racing track, and has been around for many decades. The famous race held each year is the Santa Anita Derby, one of the final races before the famous Kentucky Derby.
There is a racing season that is currently underway, so most weekends there are a number of horse races occurring. The backdrop is great with greenery and mountains, and the grandstands are well shaded due to the location of the sun being slightly behind the grandstands. There is lots of horse betting going on as well.
In my last visit, we watched four races and had a good time. I lost $25 betting the horses, but still had fun trying. Here are a few pics:
Thanks for coming by and seeing a little piece of my California.

That looks like a great track. Growing up, we had a race track for horses, but it was nothing like this. Derby season is so memorable.
