Gardenia - Show Us Your California

Hi friends,

This post is an entry into the weekly Show Us Your California contest hosted by @socalsteemit where we share an aspect of our California.

I have a numb of plants, trees and flowers around my house, but one that we are particularly fond of is our Gardenia bush. This bush has amazing smelling small white flowers when it is blooming - they are fantastic!

The only problem is that the plant has not bloomed the last two years. When a friend of mine, who is an expert on crop diseases as that is his career, recently came over to visit, I had him take a look at the Gardenia plant:

He said it looked like it was struggling and could use some fertilizer. He suggested getting the same kind that is meant for blueberries as they both like the same soil:

So we were able to find some blueberry soil - hopefully we can get the plant to flower again!
