Horse Racing - Show Us Your California

This post is an entry into the weekly Show Us Your California contest hosted by @socalsteemit where we share an aspect of our California.

We went to a local fall harvest festival on Saturday, that ended up being a bit of a bust - not much happening and not much to do. After walking around for a bit, we decided to do something else. Nobody had any good ideas, so I got to choose - horse racing at the Santa Anita Derby track :)

We went to the race track and had a fantastic time. The venue is great, and the kids enjoyed the racing. We had some good food and drinks, as well as dessert. We had some contests as a family were we tried to pick the winners based on the odds and by inspecting the horses before the races. We stayed for about 5 races, which run about every 30 minutes. We picked the winner in 3 out of 5 of the races, so I did better than usual on the betting side.
