What is a by-pass valve?
A metal plate covering a hole in the boiler?
This gives access to the boiler for cleanin and inspection.
What is the purpose of the bottom blow valve?
To blow out sediment,scale and other insoluble materiald which collect invthe bottom of the boiler?
What is the bottom blow line?
This is the pipe line thats connect the surface blow valve line and the bottom blow valve line and leads to the skin valve on the side of the ship.
What is a bridge wall?
A brick wall between the burnace and combustion chamber in a scotch boiler .Helps to retared flow of combustion gases.
What is a by-pass valve?
A small valve and pipe line passing around a large valve.Alaways found on steam valves over 6".Used to warm up the line slowly and equalislze the pressure on both sides of the valve.
