Happy New Year from Myanmar!! To all friends and fellow Steemians!!
Many apologies for not posting much lately, a combination of wanting to spend less time on the internet and work has meant that I've had far less time to spend on Steemit than I wanted.

New Year and in Myanmar, 2018 - Original Photography#

Part one - Local Labourers around the Airport.

I spent Christmas and the New Year in Myanmar (Formerly Burma) for a friend's wedding. I spent a few months living in and teaching English in Myanmar in 2015, and have some fond memories from there.
I was based in Yangon, a bustling city with leafy suburbs which has been developing at a scary rate since the Country has been opening up to foreign influence and investment.

Issues in Burma.

There are many issues in Myanmar (Burma) , including poverty and the treatment of the Rohingya and various other ethnic groups in the Country.
I will be doing some more posts to talk about these issues, but for now, i am focusing on solely the photographs that I pictured whilst traveling around Myanmar.

Photos around Yangon airport

I spent the first night staying at the Airport, as I had to make a connecting flight to Heho on the next day.

Local labourers.

There are many workers waiting around the airport, who are ready to jump into large trucks that will transport them to their work. Most of them will be working on a first come first serve basis and will get around 3-4 US dollars a day for a hard day's work. Money in Myanmar does go a lot further than many Western Countries, of course.

In Myanmar, many firms rely on simply having many staff to do a job, this means that often a lot of staff have a lot of time to stand around and use facebook.

Or maybe smoke a cigarette or local cheroot (cigar).

Have you been to Burma, or do you live there? Is the Steemit / Crypto revolution coming there?
The people I asked had no idea of bitcoin, or Steemit, but most locals spend hours a day "playing" on facebook.

Hopefully the Steemit / crypto revolution will get more coverage in Myanmar soon, a large percentage of people now have a smartphone and internet connection.

I did talk extensively with 2 friends who are living in Myanmar and hopefully they will start posting on Steemit soon!! I'll keep you informed.
