My 2018: A tour around my town- Lingayen, Pangasinan
I am glad to see this contest by @anomadsoul, so I had created this piece as an entry for CONTEST: My 2018: A tour around my town - 100 SBD in Prize.
My Home: Lingayen, Pangasinan
I actually live in Lingayen, the capital of Pangasinan, which is exactly at the central part of the province. The provincial government offices are located in the town, and the tourism is boosted due to improvement of the town.
The Provincial Capitol
This is the Provincial Capitol which was one of the tourist destinations of the town. It was built during American Era, and was largely destructed during World War 2, and had undergone repair according to its original design.
This is located right close to the Provincial Capitol as Lingayen Beach is just nearby.
A pathway heading to the Provincial Capitol. It is connected to the free public restroom as well as the museum. This is actually at the back of the Capitol Building.
Want to have a rest or spend some me-time? Why not visit the Capitol Park? It is located right at the Capitol Compound as you can see the Provincial Capitol Building at the background. I remember how this one looks like before. The improvement done made it look better, and boosted the town's tourism.
The Urduja Building
I remember when I was a child, I used to think that building is Japanese inspired because of its roof. I eventually learned it was called Urduja Building, which was named after Pangasinan folk heroine Princess Urduja. It used to be the official resident and office of our province's Governor, the Malacañang counterpart of our province.
Lingayen Beach
The main tourist destination of our town is Lingayen Beach. Here you can't just swim but enjoy the breeze as well as the park nearby. At the photo, you the sun is about to set. It's actually part of the Lingayen Gulf which stretches from the coast of Bolinao (northwestern part of Pangasinan) to the province of La Union.
Creek heading to the beach.
The beach in the morning.
Don't worry about those cottages. Those were free, so you can stay as long as you want!
Cool breezes weren't produced coming from the beach alone. As you can see those palms gives cool breeze, as well as the trees nearby as you can see below.
You can erect your tent here and spend time overnight. Don't worry, there are lots of lights in the evening, and there are guards and cops patrolling in the area.
Lingayen Baywalk
Lingayen Baywalk was constructed which became a huge part of the thriving tourism in the town. It was initially construction which stretches only several meters, which was eventually extended to the western part of the town to the eastern part up to the town of Binmaley.
This part is still under development as beautification is still on process.
Those cottages which was alongside Baywalk is part of the popular resort in town, Aquatica Marina.
The non-functional fountain at the entrance of Aquatica Marina.
Rural areas
The southern part of the town is made of rural areas. It was even surrounded by rivers which runs to Lingayen Gulf.
The river is apparently eroding in this part of Barangay Wawa.
This river, which is Agno River, is connected to the river at the photo above at the southern barangay of Wawa. This part of the river is the exit of the river to Lingayen Gulf.
Foods
Since Lingayen is a coastal town, expect aquaculture as the main product of the town. Bangus and tilapia are common fishes in the town and here are some of the foods that I cooked.
This is my specialty! It's Bangus Sisig by which Bangus was flaked and added some ingredients to make it flavorful.
Tilapia in tomato sauce.
Fried Boneless Bangus.
Grilled Bangus. This is how it looks like inside.
It was stuffed with tomatoes, onions, garlics, black pepper, and salt.
So this is my hometown, Lingayen. Try visit our town this summer and make your 2018 worthwhile.
