This challenge, started by @jokossita here, is a great incentive to dig into those dusty old memories. Music can have powerful associations to a life long forgotten - hopefully more good than not.

Day 9

A song that makes you hopeful
This song complements the way I figure the world works (which doesn't always gel with how others see it), and so this song is an uplifting reminder that I'm not actually as isolated as I sometimes feel.

So what song did I choose? Angels by Robbie Williams

This song certainly sums up one aspect of how I believe the Universe works. Hearing it is like a tug on the heart, and gives me a feeling of hope that all will be right with the world, regardless.

From the song's Wikipedia page there is information on a dispute about just who wrote the song:

The authorship of the song is contested. Williams has claimed he wrote the song with Chambers in 25 minutes and the song is about his aunt and uncle. By his account, he and Chambers were sitting outside a cafe watching a water fountain which inspired them to write the song's chorus.
Despite this, Ray Heffernan asserts that a demo version of 'Angels' was written and recorded by Williams and himself during a drunk night in Dublin in 1996, and that Williams bought out Heffernan's rights to the song for £7,500.

On Robbie's Wikipedia page there is a section on his charity work:

Williams has set up a charity in his home town of Stoke-on-Trent entitled Give It Sum, its goal being to "improve local conditions and strengthen community life by giving money to those who are disadvantaged."
Williams, with the help of friend Jonathan Wilkes, has organised charity football matches called Soccer Aid to raise money for UNICEF UK. A mixture of celebrities and professional football players have played Soccer Aid matches in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 at Old Trafford in Manchester and Wembley Stadium in London.
Williams has been the Patron of the children's charity the Donna Louise Trust, based in Stoke-on-Trent, since 2002. The charity offers respite and palliative care to terminally ill and life-limited children who are not expected to live past the age of 16.

Another quote from the song's information page states:

In a 2005 poll, "Angels" was ranked the most popular song that Britons would most like played at their funeral.

This would be my second choice (see my song choice, day 7), and listening to it one can understand why it would be a popular request at such a time. But this shouldn't be the only time to play it! Crank the song up if you are feeling low in spirit and need an emotional boost. Works for me.

This is the list from which the music challenge is based off of. I will be modifying some of the questions if more fitting.
