Eloui is a Swiss singer, bass and ukulele player living in Vienna, Austria. After studying at Vienna’s academy of fine arts and spending too many lonely hours at her studio, she decided to switch from brushes to bass and make music instead of paintings.

She plays with Ernesty International, Thalija and The Brainmanagerz and works together with Gudrun von Laxenburg, M185 and am a member of Michaela Obertscheider’s theater group.

Her first solo album ‚Chasing Atoms‘ was released in November 2011.

Zu liebevoll arrangierter Plicker-Plucker-Elektronik, die um stimmungsvolle Samples und allerlei analoges Instrumentarium erweitert wird, singt Eloui sanft, zurückhaltend und doch prägnant melancholische Lieder voll Intimität und Wärme, wobei ihr das kleine Kunststück gelingt, die Schwermut ganz leichtfüßig klingen zu lassen.

We met Eloui from Switzerland at her studio in Vienna to have an exclusive Interview with her about her homemade electronic pop music, what projects she is working on at the moment, the meaning of home, notable teachers in her life, eclectic instruments, what brought her to Vienna and of course, perhaps more applicable than ever, who cuts her hair? It was a true pleasure to speak with her, she is a very kind and open individual!
