Eric Clapton, know as the Guitar God by a lot of great guitarist and many important people in the world of music, has lived a life full of difficulties and tragedies.
Eric Clapton conocido, por gran cantidad de guitarristas y muchísima gente importante del mundo de la música, como el 'Dios de la Guitarra'.
About a year ago Clapton communicated that he was suffering an incurable damage to his nervous system. A condition that apparently left him struggling to play guitar. It was a shock for the whole music world, as he has always been a reference as guitarist, one of the greatest.
Hace poco menos de un año Clapton comunico que estaba sufriendo un dolor incurable en su sistema nervioso. Una condición que aparentemente le estaba lastrando a dejar de tocar la guitarra. Fue un tremendo shock para todo el mundo de la música, ya siempre ha sido un referente como guitarrista, uno de los grandes.
In an interview for the Classic Guitar Magazine he said:
'I’ve had quite a lot of pain over the last year. It started with back pain and turned into what they call peripheral neuropathy, which is like you have electric shocks going down your leg. And I’ve had to figure out how to deal with some other things from getting old.'

The most traumatic tragedy came when in 1991 his son, Conor, fell out an open window in a 53 floor building in Manhattan, New York, at the age of four.
La tragedia más traumática llega cuando en 1991 su hijo Conor cayó de una ventana del piso 53 de un edificio en Manhattan, Nueva York, a los cuatro años de edad.
Conor's death inspired Clapton to write one of his most famous songs 'Tears in Heaven'.
La muerte de Conor fue la que inspiró a Clapton a escribir uno de sus temas más conocidos 'Tears in Heaven'.
It wasn't all. During his career Eric Clapton had many problems with alcohol, drugs and women. In his biography he admitted to have tried to kill himself three times.
Pero eso no fue todo. Durante su carrera Eric Clapton tuvo incontables problemas con el alcohol, las drogas y con las mujeres. En su biografía admitió que había intentado suicidarse tres veces.
Despite of uncountable attempts and after ten years fighting against alcoholism, the British artist won that battle in 1998.
Después de innumerables intentos y tras mas de diez años luchando contra el alcoholismo, el artista británico ganó la batalla en 1998.

One more obstacle for Clapton: His brush with Jimi Hendrix, the amazing Afroamerican guitarist, that went to London to meet Clapton and gave him a lesson playing 'Killing Floor', making Clapton stop playing and pulling out the concert. That day was remembered as 'The day that Hendrix killed God'.
Un obstáculo más para Clapton: Su encontronazo con Jimi Hendrix, el virtuoso guitarrista afroamericano, que fue a Londres a conocer a Clapton y al que dio un lección tocando 'Killing Floor', haciendo que Clapton parara de tocar y dejara el concierto. Ese día fue recordado como 'El día en que Hendrix mató a Dios'.
Eric Clapton: Slowhand. A genius, a guitar god. A person that has lost a son, has fought against addictions and now, has to face the fact that not to be able to do the only thing he has done since always, playing the guitar.
Eric Clapton: Manolenta. Un genio, un dios de la guitarra. Una persona que ha pedido un hijo, ha luchado contra adicciones y que ahora tiene que enfrentarse al hecho de no poder hacer la única cosa que ha hecho desde siempre, tocar la guitarra.

Great post. I remember my father showing me his music when I was younger. I remember the "robot" voice he did in the song "Do you feel like we do", great song. Not my generation but still amazing. My father inspired me to play drums from listening to clapton, rush, elo, and many others. I still play the drums and I will never stop. Eric Clapton was an inspiration to many musicians and guitarists out there. He still tour's to this day, the music keeping him going like it keeps many others going in this thing we call life.
His way of playing the guitar was unique, simply amazing. Thanks for the comment @gre3n :)
