PAIN - Industrial Metal from Sweden

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians,

yes, again a band from Sweden. I'm not choosing bands by any system but just by the criterion "Are they playing great music?". So the Swedish scene does a good job. And more than others, Peter Tägtgren from PAIN does. He's maybe better known as founder and frontman of the band Hypocrisy. As project he also founded PAIN in 1996:

Shut your Mouth from the album Nothing Remains The Same from 2002

Peter Tägtgren works also as producer amongst others for bands like Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom or Celtic Frost. For PAIN he plays all the instruments and records it all by his own, starting with the first album in 1997 to the latest album from 2016. On the last album Coming Home it was the first time the drums were played completely by another person: his 17 year old son Sebastian.

  • 1997: Pain
  • 2000: Rebirth
  • 2002: Nothing Remains the Same
  • 2005: Dancing with the Dead
  • 2007: Psalms of Extinction
  • 2008: Cynic Paradise
  • 2011: You Only Live Twice
  • 2012: We Come In Peace (live)
  • 2016: Coming Home

In the same time he also released 9(!!!) album with Hypocrisy... busy guy!

“Music is everything to me. I’ve been through two divorces and a whole world of shit because of music but still it is the most important thing in the world to me. I’d rather have music than anything else.”

The style of PAIN is not always industrial metal and also not just alternative metal. It's a wide range of musical elements and styles. So for example this song sounds more like an AC/DC tune but on it's own aggressive, dark and heavy PAIN-way:

Dirty Woman from the album You Only Live Twice from 2011

I once saw them live as supporting act for Nightwish in 2008 without knowing them before. I loved them at first sight. Especially Shut your mouth which i pinned above burned itself in my ears. If you want to see them live, check out their tourdates linked here. Till March their on the road in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Australia.

So, how do you like them?
Did you know them before or is it a new band for you?
