Here's Some Good Korean Music ♪ 👀👍

Many of you, who's ever heard of K-pop, might have heard of Psy (for his famous Gangnam Style), BTS, or Girl's Generation. But today I'm here to introduce you to some of very underrated artists. For the last few months, I've only been listening to their songs.

I love listening to music. It's always turned on when I'm driving, shopping, cooking, at shower,... I mean everywhere everyday. My friends say I have a unique taste in music, meaning that my music doesn't go with the general public. However, the songs I brought today are pretty general but not gaining much popularity globally.

#MoonMoon - Paint

MoonMoon is a singer-songwriter who gained his popularity among idol singers for his song, Contrail. His stage name has the meaning of 'There are too many good songs in the earth, so I'm flying to the moon." He writes songs based on his personal experience so it feels like reading his secret diary.

This song <Paint> summarizes the whole life of MoonMoon. Throughout his career, he's been writing lyrics to express the lack of affection due to the absence of mother figure in his childhood - represented by the blue (depression) line tattoo on his neck.

He then joined the army to make a living but couldn't give up his dream as a singer; he was working hard and singing desperately during the day, and he was drunk at night. - the red (passionate) lined tattoo. He wishes to spend the rest of life in peace, therefore, embodies his hope in green (calm, tranquility) ink.

#Hyukoh - Ohio

There are popular Hyukoh songs such as Tomboy (this song is a real masterpiece), Leather Jacket, Comes and Goes, Big Bird and more. But this is what I'd personally recommend. The lyrics might be a bit weird for an English speaker but it's not a big deal for such amazing music. :) This song is like a candle light. Great for cozy winter and for peaceful sunny day.

All members of Hyukoh are born in 1993. How could these young people make such deep and unique sound? I can't stop myself falling in love with the vocalist Oh Hyuk's deep, raspy voice. (As writing this, I've keep listening to this song. Now the 'Oh hi Oh hi' sound stuck in my ear. Haha)

#Dean - Instagram

The entire lyrics is in Korea but there's is a translated English lyrics if you turn on the Youtube CC setting. The song basically depicts and criticizes the current society where people can't let go of their cell phones and completely immersed in social media. People like to show off their wealth, intelligence, health, and lifestyle. I'm not saying it's bad but something to think about.

Here's another song in totally different mood. Dean covers wide range of styles from R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, and EDM. He also collaborates with other singers, including Zico, Taeyeon, Heize, etc. Here are some more: Bermuda Triangle, D (Half Moon), Come Over.
