in #music8 years ago (edited)

Anyone who is making music sooner or later comes to a point where the need to publish online arise. There are many places where you can put your work online, that's why I'm sharing with you 7 free platforms to help you reach out to your fans and make some money along the way.

1 . Bandcamp

The indie musician's heaven! Bandcamp sells your music directly to your fans and followers. It has paid more than $205 million to artists up to date. No label is required only you and your listeners, plus a small fee to Bandcamp. Over the years, the platform proves itself to be a stable network for interaction with musicians and fans over the world. Musicians can put a "name your price" tag, giving listeners the option to decide how much to pay for a song, alternatively, it could be downloaded for free if the author allows it. A merch store is also available, as well as statistics and analytics. Highly recommended.

2. Audiomack

With over 6 million active users Audiomack is giving musicians and fans powerful tools. It's completely free. Uploads, downloads, and streaming are unlimited. Channel monetization is also available. The free mobile apps extend the user experience beyond the desktop. The design is user-friendly and simple. So far I'm very impressed.

3. Musicxray

Musicxray connects artists, musicians, and music business professionals under one roof. Think of it as an online A & R.

4, 5 Youtube, Vimeo etc.

The video is the new form of internet multimedia. Millions of people watch videos every day on a multitude of devices. Music fans spend a considerable amount of time watching music videos and enjoy them very much. Just look at the numbers of the most played songs on Youtube. At least half of the plays are organic. Even if you don't have any music videos, I still encourage you to put your music out there. Just add a nice cover. Recently many world acclaimed musicians started to upload their latest albums on Youtube before someone else will eventually. (Bonobo, Thievery Corporation, etc.)

6. Your own website

It's nice to have your own .com .info, .me etc. if you can afford it. A custom website acts as a greeting card for your fans and future clients. You have complete control over the content in it, and nowadays you don't have to be a tech geek to run a small website. Thanks to platforms like Wordpress, Wix and Joomla anyone can host and manage their own website, without ever writing a single line of code.

7. Steemit

Steemit is a great place for photographers, painters, writers and all sorts of creative people. Already some of them are slowly building a user base and earn money along the way. Musicians can sell their music or offer services for steem tokens or steem dollars, or even be tipped by fans. Artists can run campaigns and interact more closely with their fans. It's a new model of content and goods exchange we are just starting to discover. Steemit is making the first steps towards a new internet economy where anyone can join, and artists can benefit the most.
