If you follow my account, you know that I LOVE the 80s early 90s band Talk Talk! It is "Such a Shame" they only produced 6 albums. On one hand it bugs me this band was so underrated, but on the other hand I generally turn away from things the mass likes!

I remember discovering this band sometimes in the mid 80s, this must be with their song "It's My Life" released in 1984 that got somewhere in the hit parades throughout Europe, well for sure in the Netherlands :)

Since I never had a vinyl player, I was stuck to the music aired on television or broadcasted on the radio. Only when I got my first CD player in 1988, I discovered their whole repertoire. Living around the corner of a new initiative at that time, a store offering CDs for rent for a day or week, it was quite easy for me to get to music! Those years I discovered a lot of music, and developed the taste for the less mainstream styles and artists.

Fortunately this rental service brought me Talk Talk in its entirety and drove me to buy all their works.

After their 1986 "Colour of Spring" album, the band went a new direction with their music. Much less 'mainstream', more experimental, minimal in a sense; LOVED IT!

Mark Hollis - the lead band member said: "Before you play two notes learn how to play one note — and don’t play one note unless you’ve got a reason to play it."

Their best ever album - in my opinion - I share with you today "Spirit of Eden". I hope you like as much as I do. I get goosebumps over and over again listening to the album, while remembering the days of my youth, this music, and writing this post.

Laaaaang geleden....maar nog steeds goed, voor mij vooral de periode toen ze nog van die bijna melige song uitbrachten...

Voor mij tijdloze muziek; Zo goed vind ik ze dat ze altijd bij me zullen blijven.

Great singer, I bought this album as a child :-)

For me Hollis has one of the best male popsingers voices of the 80ies.
And Such a Shame is one of the best pop songs ever composed, if you ask me. :-)

I love almost every song they made! I'm still simply in love with them.
