“Seasons don't fear the reaper, Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain. We can be like they are”

song ~ “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”
artist ~ Blue Öyster Cult

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
Baby, I'm your man

La la la la la

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity, Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday
Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday
Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday
We can be like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Baby, take my hand, don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
Baby, I'm your man

La la la la la

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared, saying don't be afraid
Come on baby, and she had no fear
And she ran to him, then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodbye, she had become like they are
She had taken his hand, she had become like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper     (Image source)

In “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper,”  Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser gave us a bit of insight into a few matters that most of us consider important – namely life, love, and death.

Life and Love

When reflecting on his own existence, Dharma realized that he might die young. This led to thoughts of the inevitability of death, and the realization that, ultimately, there’s no reason for anyone to be afraid of dying.

As Dharma stated so pointedly, neither the sun, the wind, the rain, or even the season are afraid of passing into oblivion. In the same way, neither should we  fear death.

Death and Eternal Love

Some listeners mistakenly assumed that the lyrics condoned suicide. But Dharma stated unequivocally that they were about transcending death, about eternal love.

Once we shed this mortal coil, “We'll be able to fly,”  and we will know that the “Love of two is one.”  In other words, there is no reason to fear the Grim Reaper.     (Image source)

Don't fear the reaper. Don't fear the reaper. Don't fear the reaper because the reaper can not reap you twice.

I was greatly touched by the lyrics of this song. There is no reason to fear death nor is there any reason to fear falling in love.

Thanks for sharing.

Really, it's a rock classic, and sometimes even referred to as a "hard rock" classic. But it's much more than that. It's a great song with beautiful sound and intriguing lyrics. Glad you liked it.

The lyrics have prompted me to download the song, it's really cool.
