Having labored in the long shadows of the Lennon / McCartney songwriting duo, George Harrison has been referred to as “the Ringo Starr of The Beatles.”  However, fine compositions such as this song belie that opinion. 

Best of The Beatles

After this song appeared on the 1969 album Abbey Road,  Harrison was finally seen as a composer who could rival John Lennon and Paul McCartney. In fact, Lennon said that “Something”  was the best song on the album.  

Love of Life

While the song is generally believed to have been inspired by Pattie Boyd, his wife at the time, Harrison later clarified that she may not have been the sole source of inspiration.

Although we may never know for sure who inspired it, we can be certain the source of inspiration was an ineffable and overwhelming love.     _{(Image source)}
