Eye on Artists: The JBs

There is something to be said about bands with amazing singers and amazing instrumentals. Queen was one act that was all around great. A similiarly spectacular act is The JBs, which was fronted by James Brown but also had Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, Bootsy and Phelps Collins, and other amazing artists. My favorirte song of theirs is "Giving up Food for Funk."

What an amazing band, would have loved to catch them live. Some powerful instrumentals and vocals and you got James Brown screaming and doing some impressive dancing.

"Get Involved" some powerful stuff with some great electric guitar and impressive horns.

Another funky hit is "Doing It to Death," full of not amazing auditory sensations that gets people dancing in their seats, but amazing visual performances from a rocking band and engaged crowd.

Had some trouble finding live performances but "Pass the Peas" is another rocking song and album. All around some great movement for partying or driving or doing something active.

All around a great band, but recommended for upbeat stuff, imagine may not be good for trying to fall asleep, or some other docile type mood. "Gimmie Some More" is just some more with horns and trance like vocal repetition, quick interesting guitar lines and a constant rocking beat..
