Vier Tage nach meinem 30. Geburtstag kam diese traurige Nachricht. AALIYAH Dana Hauchton war auf dem Rückflug vom Videodreh zu “Rock The Boat" von den Bahamas nach Miami tödlich verunglückt.
Einige von euch, wie zum Beispiel unser liebes @Flugschwein, werden diese urbane RnB-Sängern eventuell nicht kennen. Andere hingegen, wie unser bärtiger Freund @bearded-benjamin schon und auch all diejenigen, die meinen Beitrag zu @uwelang Dance-Weekend gelesen haben. Denn nach dem musikalischen und auch privaten Ende ihrer Zusammenarbeit mit R. Kelly, der in den Anfangsjahren als Mentor für sie tätig war, startete sie mit Missy Elliott (@bearded-benjamin heimliche Liebe) und Timbaland neu durch. Wegweisend war zum damaligen Zeitpunkt dieser neuartige Sound dieses genialen Produzententeams. Aber erst einmal back to the roots.
Four days after my 30th birthday came this sad news. AALIYAH Dana Haughton was died on the return flight from the video shoot to "Rock The Boat" from the Bahamas to Miami. Some of you, like our beloved @Flugschwein, may not know these urban RnB singers. Others however, like our bearded friend @bearded-benjamin already and also all those who have read my contribution to @uwelang Dance-Weekend.. Because after the musical and private end of their collaboration with R. Kelly, who was in the early years as a mentor to them, she started again with Missy Elliott (@bearded-benjamin secret love) and Timbaland. Leading the way at the time was this novel sound of this ingenious producer team. But first of all, back to the roots.
Bereits schon in jungen Jahren schnupperte Aaliayh Bühnenluft. An der Seite ihrer berühmten Tante Gladys Knight erkannte man frühzeitig das enorme musikalische Potential. Im Alter von zwölf Jahren unterschrieb sie ihren ersten Plattenvertrag und mit 14 nahm sie mit R. Kelly ihr erstes Studioalbum auf.
"Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” wurde 1994 veröffentlicht und stieg auf Anhieb auf Platz 18 der amerikanischen Albumcharts ein. Später erhielt es sogar Platinstatus. Aber mit Missy und Timbaland erreichte Aaliyah ihren musikalischen Höhepunkt. Das Album „One In A Million“ übertraf das Debütalbum mit sechs äußerst erfolgreichen Auskopplungen.
Already at a young age Aaliayh sniffed stage air. At the side of her famous Aunt Gladys Knight one recognized early on the enormous musical potential. At the age of twelve, she signed her first recording contract. At 14 she recorded her first studio album with R. Kelly. "Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” was released in 1994 and immediately rose to # 18 on the American album charts. Later, it even got platinum status. But with Missy and Timbaland, Aaliyah reached her musical climax. The album "One In A Million" surpassed the debut album with six extremely successful releases.
Der Ergeiz ihrer Mutter brachte sie außerdem dazu, eine Schauspielausbildung abzuschließen. Neben ein paar Rollen in TV-Serien kam im Jahre 2000 der Durchbruch mit ihrer erste Hauptrolle in ‘Romeo Must Die‘ an der Seite von meinem Lieblings“kampf“schauspieler Jet Li. Der Soundtrack “Try Again“ - mein Beitrag zur morgigen #song-challenge am Tag 6, die erste ebenfalls von Timbaland produzierte Single, brachte ihr die Platzierung an der Spitze der amerikanischen Singlecharts ein.
Im Jahre 2001 veröffentlichte Aaliyah ihr drittes und letztes Studioalbum mit dem Titel “Aaliyah“, welches auf Platz Zwei der Billboard Charts einstieg.
2002 kam der Film „Königin der Verdammten“ mit ihr als Akasha - Urmutter aller Vampire - in die Kinos. Das war die Wende meiner Karriere in der 5. Jahreszeit. Ich legte damals mein geliebtes Engelskostüm ab und ward ab sofort nur noch als Akasha auf allen Faschingsveranstaltungen zu sehen. Der Film war nicht jedermans Sache aber mir gefiel er ziemlich gut. Ich mag das mystische, die Untoten. Da kann ich mich einfach in diese Fantasiewelt treiben lassen und für den Augenblick des Film Schauens oder des Buch Lesens den täglichen Stress vergessen. Die Rolle der Vampirurmutter war ihr wirklich auf den Leib geschneidert. Und das Outfit war einfach der Hammer!

I like the mystical, the undead. Since I can just drift into this fantasy world and forget the daily stress for the moment of film viewing or reading the book. The role of the vampire mother was really tailor-made for her. And the costume was awesome!
Was war aber Aaliayhs Vermächtnis? Durch ihre selbstbewusste Art bereits in ihrer Teenie-Zeit war sie für eine ganze Generation Jugendlicher ein Vorbild. Sicherlich muss man den Kritikern Recht geben, dass es bessere Singstimmen gab und gibt aber für uns Fans war und ist heute noch ihre Stimme einzigartig. Und das mag sicherlich auch an ihrer ganzen Erscheinung, der nicht zuletzt schon fast mystisch anmutenden Aura liegen. Sie hat musikalisch und auch performancetechnisch die RnB-Szene geprägt. Aaliayh war nicht nur die Königin der Vampire sondern auch die Königin-Mutter von Beyoncé und Rihanna. Wo würde sie heute stehen? Der Ruhm und Bekanntheitsgrad von den Prinzessinnen mag wohl größer als ihrer sein aber durch das ihr gegebene Talent, ihrer perfektionistischen Gelassenheit und ihrer künstlerischen Visionen wäre sie auch heute eine der Größten.
Die Welt war auf noch mehr von ihr gespannt – die Welt hatte noch so viel mit ihr vor. Hauptrollen in Honey und in der Matrixtrilogie … sinnliche Balladen, coole Soundtracks und sexy Videos ...
Aaliyah we miss you!
But what was Aaliayh's legacy? Through her self-confident nature already in her teenage years she was a role model for a whole generation of teenagers. Of course you have to agree with the critics that there were better voices and for us fans were and still are their voice today. And that may certainly also be due to their whole appearance, not least of all the almost mystical aura. She influenced the RnB scene both musically and performance. Aaliayh was not only the queen of the vampires but also the queen mother of Beyoncé and Rihanna. Where would she be today? The fame and fame of the princesses may be greater than theirs, but their talent, perfectionist serenity, and artistic vision make them one of the greatest. The world was looking forward to even more of her - the world had so much in store for her. Starring in Honey and the Matrix trilogy ... sensual ballads, cool soundtracks and sexy videos ...

Sie war sogar hier in der Dominikanischen Republik bekannt! Dementprechend wurde sie auch hier gewürdigt. Da ich aus Zeitungen und fernsehen spanisch lerne sind mir diverse Artikel aufgefallen.

Ich mag das Foto von Missy zur Erinnerung an sie sehr gern. Das andere mit dem Airbrush auf der Jeansjacke von ihr finde ich gerade nicht mehr .
