FourPlay: Things You Can Do In The Dark

in #music6 years ago

Hi There 😊

So 24th March, starting 8.30pm local time, for an hour, the world will turn off their lights. Or at least that's the idea behind Earth Hour. This marks as a reminder on how we can play our part, not just for the hour but every hour, every day to save Mother Earth. To be committed to be conservative, to make it a habit, to make it a lifestyle. And if you've never done it, then this year will be a good one to start with in the hopes that it will go beyond that one hour collectively.

So this week's FourPlay is dedicated to Earth Hour and to everyone who consciously makes an effort not to be wasteful. And here are some ideas what you can do, during lights out with some acoustic.

👉🏿Get your friends together and tell ghost stories. Here's one that happened to a friend last week. He had posted some pictures of him checking in a hotel that's rumoured to be haunted. He stayed 30 minutes, got spooked and left. A day later, he had a blue-black mark on his arm. He doesn't think it's connected but hey, that's a good story to start off your session with. Light a candle so it can throw shadows. That should get the mood just right.
My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark - Fall Out Boy

👉🏿 If ghost stories is just not your thing, then still gather your friends, make sure there's one that can play the guitar, and sing your favourite songs. Of course, this has to be acoustic otherwise it defeats the purpose of Earth Hour. And there's nothing like singing some great retro songs.
Dancing In The Dark - Bruce Springsteen

👉🏿You can lie on the grass and count stars. If you have a garden, just lay out the mat or not. If you live in a condo, go to the poolside. Or go to a park that allows you and just soak in nature in the dark.
Turn Of The Lights - Nelly Furtado

👉🏿And last but not least, it may be too hot to get "romantic' , but you can always sit with that special someone and the two of you can talk about your future, the past, the present. Just enjoy each others' company, maybe have some wine, and when the hour is up, you can get to your horizontal mambo.
Turn Your Lights Down Low - Lauryn Hill

So, I will turn off my lights and hang out by the pool with kiddos and hope there are stars to count. What will you be doing?
Thank you for dropping by, and Steem On!!

I remembered when I first joined the Earth Hour for the first time when it was introduced as an awareness movement in Malaysia.

All I did was switching off the main switch, hence sacrificing my fridge for a short while since all my housemates were away, and just lie down quietly on my bed in the warm month of March.

During the time apparently my neighbours also participated but the streetlights were not switch off; nevertheless the still one hour of silence with no running sound of electricity (be it the fridge or the fan) brings a sense of stillness and quietness I feel all of us need that once a while.
