I'm doing one every week as a personal challenge to get me out of my comfort zone. I'm not much of a performer but I want to work on it and this is a way to keep pressure on myself. If I only made one whenever I felt like it I would never get one done! I only write songs when I feel like it, but these are just improvisational jams.
Setting a goal knowing without one nothing will happen is a very good way of getting things done. It also puts one under pressure for things one may not like to do. I tend to set goals for work, but not in personal/private life; Feels very relaxing, although I may not do certain things I may like to do :)
