Jessamyn Orchard Live ReBroadcast of Looping Set *Experimentation Station*

in #music8 years ago (edited)

Last night, I honestly expected this periscope to be a disaster.  I was pleasantly surprised afterward to feel that not only did it turn out to be the disaster I expected, but that over 1k checked it out live, and I've never experienced that before, and I am beyond excited and humbled that so many people hung out with me on Periscope at one time, and that just makes my heart beyond happy.

The set is far from perfect.  Part of me, wrestling with self esteem and things many artists and creators wrestle with, I could critique it all day. I still think it's taking "too long" to build the songs from scratch and worry people are getting bored with it, but I'm also still very much fleshing out how these songs are going to go.

I would love your opinions.  I normally move my Periscope replays to my Patreon, but because of this huge blessing and milestone for me, I'm sending it out to more of my communities.  I'm excited about the opportunity to talk about the moments between the songs, and I look forward to sharing many more of my projects with you.

Please feel free to scroll through the boring parts to get to the meaty stuff.  Some of these songs are still taking me quite a few minutes to build on stage, and while that is part of the performance experience, my goal is to eventually build these a bit faster.

Technical note: I've been trying to embed the replay of the broadcast, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that, or get a definitive answer on if it is even possible to embed replays and not live feeds through Periscope.  If any of you have any help on how to make that happen, I would appreciate it.

I see where you're going with these songs, and I like it. Nice choice with Billie Jean at the beginning! It's funny, because I just sang that song for the first time in years a couple of days ago, and now I come across you singing it. Mine was a little rusty; you sound good.

@paulhallman Thank you very much for the feedback. I could critique it forever, but I really appreciate your feedback and that you dug the Billie Jean cover. I just feel like taking so long to build the songs is not what my particular audience is used to, you know? What do you think? Any thoughts?

@jessamynorchard I love the way they build. It's making me think about writing something that way. Not with loops necessarily, but with a slow build. As you keep doing it you'll get smoother and quicker. Like you said, you're still fleshing them out. They sound really cool now. They'll sound incredible when you get them shaped the way you want. They do take a little too long to build, but I feel like that's something that you'll hammer out naturally.
