drummers - stick it to the streets!

Oh, what fun!... It was one of those amazing moments... and did we ever have a blast... Years a go, we were thrilled to be a part of a Vancouver Public Space Network Street Event called "Stick it to the Streets"...

It was a public 'drumming' event - to reclaim public space which happened on Granville Street in beautiful Vancouver, BC (Canada)... and, being a drummer, sparked my interest.... and so off we went to check it out + participate...

We arrived at the meeting spot on the street and drumsticks were handed out... and as a large group, we began our way 'drumming the street' - literally...

What a hoot to share such a synchronistic time together... i began to video us as we drummed along slowly down the street... and loved the many different sounds we were making together... loved every minute - we all did!

The street sounded absolutely beautiful!

As we drummed along.... we happened upon street musician playing, busker Matthew Lennox... (i found out his name later + he now travels the world playing on the street - see link below)...

The synchronistry was sooo cool... i was thrilled that i caught this moment on some video...

The whole experience definitely was a moment to remember and i bet, a busker's dream come true too - i would love having a gaggle of street drummers show up at my street-gig too!... and it was so very cool that Matt played his 12-string guitar as a percussion instrument = Busking heaven for sure!

So i hope you enjoy the video - i'm glad i caught some of that wonderful drummin' day and the joy within the present moment... i still love hearing the wonderful sounds we all made together drumming on everything around us... and what's cool most of us who gathered didn't even know each other... that once again confirmed to me how the sacred drum + rhythm brings us together so simply and powerfully...

You can see that someone even played a mashed-up pop can on the pavement - right in time!... (@6:54 secs in the video)...
