THE CHASE is a challenging late intermediate piano solo, which alternates between 6/8 and 3/4 time. The Chase was inspired by selections from Bernstein's 'West Side Story.' Teaching concepts include

- 6/8 (compound time) & 3/4 time (simple triple meter)
- Hand crossings (LH over the RH)
- Articulations (accents, staccato & legato)
- Grace notes
- Accidentals (naturals)
- Varied dynamics & phrasing
- Damper pedal & senza pedale (without pedal)
- Register changes
- Ledger line notes
- 8va
- Clef changes (treble to bass & vice versa)
- Fermatas
- Slurred & tied notes
- Solid & broken chords
- Chords - minor (F & C), major (Eb, Bb & G), minor 7th (C & G) and dominant 7ths (C7, Db7 & Ab7)
