A farewell to Sabrina Vlaskalic (1989 - 2019)
This week was very sad for the whole community of guitar and classical music.
Prematurely the exceptional Serb guitarist Sabrina Vlaskalic (189-2019), died on the 17th of this month, hit by a truck while cycling in Groningen, Holland. A day before his 30th birthday. In his last post in your facebook page she said:
"Incredibly excited to tell you that I will be performing at the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) Convention in Indianapolis in June 2020! I JUST CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS PERFORMANCE !!!! THIS IS SO AMAZING !!!! "
This enthusiasm really says a lot about your personality, an incredibly positive person regarding life and career. She would perform a premiere piece wrote by Stephen Goss (1964*) for his doctoral recital at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. It would be publicly displayed in Hong Kong at the epic Altamira Guitar Symposium in July of this year.
After this, the Ukrainian composer Štěpán Rak (1945*) wrote a another piece in his memory, "Tombeau for Sabrina".
For those who did not know his work, I leave here a video of an incredible performance of "En los Trigales" by Joaquin Rodrigo, who better than words, illustrate all his love for the life.

A huge loss with no doubt! , what a shame the early end. Some precious stars only last seconds and your fortunate if you aim to see them and appreciate their brightness.
We have also lost Michel Legrand recently so more stars to look at.
