The Long Wait is Over...

The day has finally came to the band who was very eager to bring home the bacon. It was a very long day and night for them to wait and to compete and beat those talented bands. They practiced all day and all night long. The band was named The Unknown Band/TUB." They all came from Los Baños National High School-Batong Malake located at Pearl Street, Umali Subdivision, Los Baños Laguna, Philippines. They are all grade 10 students from the said school.

They had their practice for this big event that they were preparing for. For a bit of info about them and for proof that they had their practice, please read this:

The event moved and not exactly on the said date in the article above. It was held on March 23, 2018, in Los Baños National High School-Batong Malake. Many bands performed that day at the said school and they were all such great talents to witness. All of them prepares even the TUB.

This was the scenario before, performing, and after the battle of the bands.

Before the battle begin!

Right after the preparation, filling the seats and the program by the guest band, this is the time for us to witness the talents hidden in National High. All band were given two songs to perform. So what are we waiting for??? Let's rock n' roll!🎹🎤🎧🎸

This was the first contender, The Playground from grade seven! They played the song Kisapmata by Rivermaya and Same ground by Kitchie Nadal.

This band was full of energy not because they were young among the rest but so positive aura ran into them. They set the stage with a great ambiance and full of joy. Salute to this grade seven students.

The second one was the Fire and Ice who was came from the school that I am working which is the Bernaldo N. Calara Integrated National High School.

They were all my students with a combination of grade seven to grade ten. They chose my co-teacher, Mark Joseph Revilla as their mentor that's why I taught another band to compete this event and that was the TUB. The Fire and Ice played the song Bring me to life by Evanescence and Parting time by Rockstar. They did a great performance that day. I feel proud to be their teacher even though I am not their band coach. I saw in their eyes that they also want to bring the trophy in our school that day. The lead guitarist, Abelardo Ocon Jr. was the one who I was mentoring and guiding thru playing guitar. I saw his big change performing on the big stage. And everyone of Fire and Ice was really on fire and giving the audience the chill.

The third band competed was the Rapido from LBNHS-BM, and they were grade eight students. They played the song Kapayapaan by Tropical Depression and One day by Matisyahu.

If you are looking for a chilling and a reggae music, then they were the one who can give you the island breeze. As their drummer hits the drum, the venue roars loudly! And following by their vocalist, the audiences were unstoppable! Yes! Unstoppable to dance because even myself enjoyed the jive!

Next is the Daimos also came from LBNHS-BM and they were all grade nine students. They played Jeepney by Spongecola and Dive by Ed Sheeran.

Honestly speaking, if I were one of the judges, this band needs some improvement and advise from music experts. Their music was so disorganized. The lively crowd that enjoys the sunrise turn at dawn. The crowd was shocked about their performance. They were like rehearsing on the stage. But still, salute to this youngster competing and having the guts.

For the fifth contender, it was the Ceiling Fan. They were also students from LBNHS-BM and they were grade nine students. They played High by The Speaks and Toyang by Eraserheads.

Just like the Daimos, another band needs to enhance or develop their music skills. The band instruments out powered their vocalist that's why the crowd still remains in silence. Also, I am gladly to see such talents like this because for me, "every teacher once a student". Hopefully, they will found someone who can support them and guide in the music industry.

This was the another contender, the Black Bucks. They were also grade nine students from LBNHS-BM. They played the song When I dream about you by Stevie B and Time in by Yeng Constantino.

This band actually caught my attention, when they start to perform, I have a feeling that they will be a great contender for the TUB. From the vocalist unto her bandmates, they played like a pro that time! The crowd started again to roar but not just roar, ten times the roar when the Fire and Ice and Rapido played. This band was really awesome! They have no error from the start until the end. I want to apologize for not getting to have the copy of their performance but geeeeezzz!!!! They do actually rock as in! Very formidable band!

Next was the Form 137, a combination of grade eight and nine students from LBNHS-BM. This band performed Sundo by Imago and Baketcase by Greenday.

Another great contender for the TUB! The bassist and the lead guitarist actually brought the crowd! The crowd still and still being wild! The battle were really on fire! Also for the drummer and the vocalist, they did a great stage performance doing tricks on drum sticks and microphone. Again, no error for this band! Splendid performance!

For the next band to perform, it was the Baby Face Assassins. Also, they were from the said school and they were all grade seven students. They played the song Narda by Kamikazee and Huling sayaw by Kamikazee.

Even they were grade 7, geeezz! It was like David fighting Goliath! This lovable creatures turns into monsters! Monster in the field of music. In my own opinion they also have a music coach because their performance makes the jugdes to stand on their seats even the audiences! Sorry if I don't have pictures of that moment. I was clapping and enjoying the moment too. Hahahaha! Overall conduct for this band is a complete package! Lovable monsters!

And lastly, the band that I guided and taught how to feel the love for music, The Unknown Band/TUB! As the old saying says, "Save the best for last." The unknown band performed and played the song Careless Whispers by George Michael and Hinahanap-hanap kita by Bamboo. They gave their best in their last performance.

All bands were awesome! Yes! A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!!! I felt on that day I am the one performing again in the big stage. I am so happy to see and witness those kids that they've enjoyed the battle. But for the counterpart of my happiness was a heartbreak for the TUB. They did not win the battle of the bands 2018. The champion was the Black Bucks! I admit it that their piece was splendid! Even though that we did not bring home the W, they were still and be still the champion for me. I saw their hearts were crying out loud of that loss. But being their teacher, mentor and a friend, I told them that, that was not the end, it was just the beginning. Sometimes we should admit the fact that there were lots of great talents but doesn't mean to lose hope but for them to strive more and more! Right after that, they told me that they will going to continue their journey as musicians and it actually melted my heart in that moment.

Now, the TUB is rehearsing their music pieces to compete again for the upcoming battle of the band in U-Turn Avenue, a resto bar located at Los Baños Laguna, Philippines. So hang in there my fellow rock mates, and we will be going to see another performance of these youngsters soon.

For the want to be out there, don't lose your track; your focus. Just spread the music in this world with a humble heart! ❤
