Street musicians Brothers Moving

in #music6 years ago

The first time when I saw video of these guys in Youtube, the impression was that the street rowdy guys got drunked, took guitars, bass and torment people. But when I listened to their game, and later the vocalist joined in, I realized that it's great.

It turned out that Danish street musicians are playing rock'n'roll and blues on the streets of Washington.

This band is already eight years old. Guys perform in the squares of different cities. At first it was native Djursland, and a little later - New York.

As I understand, the group exists for a very long time. More precisely, the grain was laid by the brothers Aske, Simon and Esben Knoblauch, who decided to make a gang and play the music of their favorite performers.

Once we asked parents for money for ice cream. Instead of money, they gave us guitars. We went up into the street and started playing as we could. After that we ate ice cream every day for another week.

Perhaps the brothers liked it, because already with a new member of the team Nils Sørensen they increasingly began to appear on the streets of their city, and then to travel to all Denmark. They usually outplayed the hits that they liked. Love for music is felt right away. Over the years they have developed their own recognizable style. And the most interesting - their cover versions definitely have a zest.

Guys play not only blues and jazz, but also folk, reggae and many other tasty things. Speaking directly - they are fond of what they like and that's right. Their performances on the streets turn into real shows. In general, artistry and charisma they have a lot.

I propose to listen to their cover of the ancient jazz composition of Cab Calloway " Minnie the Moocher ".

The ancient one is because it sang by Calloway for the first time in 1931. To tell you the truth, if it had not been for Brothers Moving, I would not have heard of "Minnie the Moocher" in my life and I would not even know who the Cab Calloway is. In addition, they often perform songs from The Police, The Rolling Stones and many other performers.

They also have their own music. It even impresses me more than other bands hits that they perform.

By the way, this year the brothers released their second album, called "Autonomy". The plate is cool, but it seemed to me that it was a bit sad.

Means for recording, as I understand it, were collected on their own, because despite the cool music, labels and producers need live performances and not in the streets or bars, and the Danes, apparently, are not yet ready for this step. Commerce is their last concern.

Musicians like to perform in street format. As they say, despite the good equipment of the session in the clubs do not give as much emotion. Apparently in the passer-by they see a more grateful listener. And there is something in this.

A couple of years ago the Brothers Moving had a tour of the cities of America. How do you guess the unusual. They performed on the streets, every day in the new city.

Brothers Moving is one of those bands that I would like to listen to in live performance. Unfortunately, this is not possible.
