Today in Music (September 17th)
What interesting new songs or albums were released or were topping the charts on September the 17th in the history of music? What has happened on this day in the music universe? I apologize in advance that my view is quite narrow since I only know and follow western music.
It was quite hard to find three pick for this day. Fortunately I found some very nice music.
In 2005 Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton were at the top of country charts with their single "Islands In The Stream" taken from "CMT 100 Greatest Duets" compilation.
In 1983 Vanessa Williams became the first black woman to be crowned Miss America.
She is a great singer and my favorite. Here she is with “Save The Best For Last”.
In 1939 Frank Sinatra recorded his first song “All or Nothing at All” with the Harry James Orchestra.
Here he was singing it in 1982.
Please remember that these artists and songs are my personal choices and are not always what you would consider a great hit. OK, most of the time they are.
