Weekend is Here! Sega Music For You....
I wish you all a nice weekend. Yes I know, some of us still have to go to work but I am sure that you enjoy your job. No I am only joking,lol, who really love their job, well there is only a few of us :) I want to share with you our sega music. The Sega is a dance which comes from the ritual music of Madagascar and Africa and it is the Musical Expression of the Mauritian Way of Life: Joy and Liveliness.
The traditional instruments like the “Ravanne”, “Triangle”, the “Maravanne” and the traditional guitar also are still being used. Sega Music Instruments ;The Ravanne, is a wooden hoop over which has been stretched a piece of goat skin. Yes the goat skin which gives us such great beats. The Coco, (Maracas) represents the percussion section The “Triangle”, a triangular piece of metal which tinkles when tapped with an iron rod The traditional guitar which was a single string instrument with an arc attached to an empty "Calebasse” The “Maravanne” -wooden rectangular box containing sand or seeds.
