WAV vs MP3 - can you hear the difference? Interactive quiz!
Hi folks, I wanted to share with you a cool website that will allow you to answer the question - can you hear the difference between MP3 and WAV file?
For those that are unaware - MP3 is a lossy compression method, so in theory the music should sound worse in MP3 than in the "native", uncompressed WAV file.
The website below allows you to hear the same music in WAV and MP3 and you have to choose which is the better sounding one without knowing which is which.
I failed the test but I can imagine that on good headphones it is much easier to tell the difference than on speakers.
Cheers!
I can't really tell the difference between 320 kbps MP3 and lossless WAV with my speakers.
There is a HUGE difference once you have a good souncard, a pair of studio monitors and an acoustically treated studio you will find that mp3 is just a vague copy of how it really sounds. Once you start to play around with the file with dynamic processing, eq or other effects and modulations the difference is even bigger.
