Song Review: Kodaline "Worth It"
The indie rock band Kodaline is back with a new single from their upcoming album "Politics Of Living". And I can't say that I'm very excited for it, because even when their previous efforts were disappointing, this song doesn't show much promise. "I don't know if it's worth it" sings the group's lead singer Steve Garrigan. And I completely agree with him, I don't know if it's worth it either, because the band seems to be producing their least soulful music yet. The band's redeeming quality was their occasional gut-wrenching songs like "All I Want" and this is just a mere husk of empty pop-production, basic snaps, lazy guitars and a boring vocal performance.
You'd hope that the lyrics would be more intriguing, but they're just filled with clichés like angels and demons to represent internal struggle, the main hook is a constant question and being lost, but it doesn't evoke any kind of emotion, it's as if there's no meaning behind the lyrics, just spouting random questions to make the song feel deep.
Overall, it's quite the disappointment, even if I definitely don't have high hopes for the band, still there are some expectations to at least make something remotely interesting, but yet again, they have failed.
