So-Far So Good

For a while now we've been hearing about this new thing all our artist friends were doing called SoFar Sounds. "It's this thing where you can perform in a living room full of people who didn't even know who you were 5 minutes ago" -they said.
We knew we had to get involved as soon as we heard this of course.

Well, after several submissions we were finally accepted to be part of one of Sofar's NYC pop-up shows (they have these all over the world btw) and we couldn't be happier.

They way it works is they curate these small concerts in venues all over. People get tickets to see whomever is performing that night without having any idea who it is. At our show there were 2 other acts performing as well and we each did about 20 mins sets. We were told that we could invite our fans to the show but we weren't given the names of the other 2 acts and the location of the venue wasn't revealed until a day before the show. So you can imagine this made for a lot of anticipation built up on all fronts. Several days before the show we were told it was sold out. While some of our friends were disappointed they went to sign up too late we were thrilled to hear we would play to a full house! Anyone who has ever played in NY knows that is priceless.

When we finally arrived we were greeted by the wonderful folks at Sofar NYC's headquarters in SOHO. So this time we didn't get to perform in someone's home (but that is something they do).

It was an experience like none other. We opened up the night with our songs & stories and received such a warm welcome. It was like they really cared to hear what we had to say and learn more about who we are as people. Something rare when you play most of the unforgiving venues in this metropolis.

Speaking of melting pots, check out the awesome artists who we shared the evening with. First was Radio Jarocho feat. Zenen Zeferino playing a wonderful mix of Mexican traditional rhythms and dances including some Spanish tap dancing which was mesmerizing. These pictures don't do it justice, plus, we just wanted to sit back and take it all in.

To close the night out came Coexist Group, a Maryland based team of young rappers complete with backup singers (who were great) and they brought the party vibes. It was hard not to at least clap your hands to the contagious beats they spit to. Each one of the 4 members brought a different color and style to it which made it all very enjoyable. They were very prepared with merchandise and everything so Katya went and bought herself a coexist T-shirt as soon as the show was over.
