The Yamaha NS-10M is perhaps the most (in)famous speaker of all time. Originally designed as a hi-fi speaker, it has been the de facto industry standard near-field monitor for nearly four decades. Known for its obnoxious midrange and overly bright tweeters (often dulled with tissue paper à la Bob Clearmountain), it is ubiquitous on meter bridges and speaker stands in studios around the world.
