today I want to talk about my own ambient/acoustic/indian band called

The Dharma Fire

Let's start with some history: the project started in 2010, in Pisa (Italy) with me (Andrea Mosca) and the guy called "Captain Check".
I was playing Indian sitar and electronics and he played keyboards.

We managed to record our first EP called "The Dharma Fire EP", a 4 tracks album, which you can listen free here: https://dharmafire.bandcamp.com

The recording, production and postproduction were quite long, so it took us some years to finish it and publish it on Bandcamp in 2014.

We created out first video clip using our song "Madhar" and extracts from the Creative Commons cartoon "Sita sings the Blues" by Nina Paley (http://www.sitasingstheblues.com)

(this video, published on my personal youtube channel , had more than 40,000 views and turned out to be the most successful thing we did since now)

Then Captain Check moved to Japan for some years and we managed to create this cool video using some footage he took on Japan mountains of Kanagawa province, which is here on youtube (on the Dharma Fire official channel)

After that, I met a very smart guy which plays Indian tabla, flute, drums and other percussions and spent some years in India to practice tabla playing,

Mario, which also works as a certified music therapist in Italy, turned out to be a great friend and musician, so we started collaborating together and playing around Tuscany (Italy).

Meanwhile, thanks to the help of the smart friend and developer Mikko Ohtamaa, Dharma Fire became the first italian band to accept Bitcoin for their music, on the bitcoin music website http://www.libertymusicstore.net .

Note that for technical problems the website is not actually selling music, even if you can still browse bands.

Mikko, which is actually here on Steemit as @miohtama, is currently developing a new, Steem-based music service - you can read his feed here on Steemit for further info about that.

The cool thing about his website is that he never took a single satoshi for this service which was 100% free and open to everyone for years! Big credits and respect to him!

So let's go back to the Dharma Fire now...

We were performing in Italy as a duo, then we decided to call Mauricio ( @lordemau here un Steemit) as a bass player (he is already playing with me in my other musical project, which I will explain in a future post).

We also managed to hire a spectacular female singer for the band, Sara, while Captain Check is still away and keeps himself available only for next recording sessions of our next album.

So we became a quartet and kept performing in Italy.

So why we are different from other bands?

• we make relaxing/meditation/therapeutic music to help people to feel better
• we play with all our instruments tuned with A at 432hz, with gives special vibrations and is quite different from common 440hz tuned music (read this for further info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_pitch or a great Steemit post here https://steemit.com/music/@doogee/why-do-i-keep-hearing-about-432 )
• we mix different musical traditions, indian, ambient, soft electronic, music therapy, lounge
• we were the first italian band to accept bitcoin and we strongly support crypto currency since years
