Here's a few more wild mushroom finds from 2019 for this #mushroommonday by @balticbadger

Here is some orange peel fungi aka Aleuria aurantia. This is an edible fungi but it has no taste to it so its best used as a bright garnish.

Here's some raspberry slime mold being devoured by slugs. I usually find this on dead logs after a summer rain. This isn't edible but it is pretty interesting looking. The latin name is tubifera ferruginosa.

Here's a strange looking one that I hardly ever find. The latin name is leotia lubrica and the common name is jelly babies. Technically these are edible as well but they have no taste.

Here's some witch's butter. This is an edible jelly like fungi with a decent texture for cooking. I like to soak it in lime and chili to give it more flavor then throw it in a soup of some kind. The latin name is Tremella mesenterica I usually find this in early spring after a rain on broken branches.

Here's a close cousin to witch's butter, this one is called amber jelly roll and it is also good in soups. The latin name is Exidia recisa, I like making menudo out of this as the texture closely resembles beef tripe but with a less fatty mushroom as a substitute.

Here is a super rare white boletus edulis. I've only ever found one so far and they are said to be the best tasting bolete. Since I only found one I left it to multiply, maybe this year a fairy ring of these will be growing where I left it...

Now for more slime fungi. This one is called white cloud fungi and is technically edible as well but the texture is too gross for me to attempt eating it. Asians like to use this in various soups but I prefer the amber jelly roll or witch's butter. The latin name is Tremella fuciformis.

Finally we have an octopus stinkhorn. These start out as an egg then hatch out orangy red looking tentacles that stink really bad. One day I hope to get a shot of one hatching out of the egg. That's it for this #mushroommonday

I sometimes get so envious when I see all the fungi you post. But I like growing succulents so I guess you can't have it all...

Yeah succulents can't handle all the moisture here, the desert section of the botanic garden has a dehumidifier in it over here lol.
